Neil Kelly appointed as H&B’s finance director

Neil Kelly has been appointed to the Main Board of the Heron & Brearley Group as finance director.

Manx-born, Neil Kelly joined H&B’s finance department as a graduate in 2001. Since then, he has achieved a linear career progression at the hospitality group, as well as gaining the ACCA qualification, to become a chartered certified accountant along the way.

In recent years, as group head of finance, Neil has also gained valuable experience serving on the boards of several H&B subsidiary companies as a director and in his capacity as Group company secretary.

Okell’s MPA nominated as a finallist for ‘Champion Beer of Britain’ award

In a major achievement for the Isle of Man’s craft brewery, Okell’s MPA (Manx Pale Ale) has been nominated as the Champion Beer of Britain at the 40th Great British Beer Festival in London.

Organised by CAMRA (Campaign for Real Ale), the festival has been the most prestigious event in the annual calendar for the beer industry since its inception in 1977.

As the Island’s largest private sector employer, H&B has a policy of encouraging higher pay through sustainable means, through investment in staff training or from rewarding productivity. While we are also keen to ensure that the Minimum Wage is appropriate and encourages people into work, it needs to be affordable for employers. The Manx employers most affected by this minimum wage rise are also the most vulnerable in the current climate, namely; Retail, Hospitality, Leisure, Cleaning and Care.
